November 26, 2001 — Bellevue, WA — ITTIA and Tokyo-based NEAT Corporation today announced a partnership in which NEAT will promote and sell ITTIA's Ittialogy product line in Japan. NEAT's focus on distributing hardware and real-time Linux software for industrial computing provides an "excellent fit" for Ittialogy's core products, the DBMSi Linux database and the XMLi integration solution, according to ITTIA President and CEO Sasan Montaseri.
"ITTIA is delighted to establish a partnership with NEAT in Japan, and we are impressed with NEAT's successful track record, excellent management and complementary business focus," Mr. Montaseri said. "We look forward to working closely with NEAT, and to successfully promoting advanced, open data management on Linux as well as XML-based integration solutions in the Japanese market."
NEAT capitalizes on the growing popularity of Linux for embedded applications in Japan, and on the strong trend toward open, fail-safe industrial systems, said Tadamichi Nomoto, NEAT's president and CEO. The company's current products include RadiSys's single board computers, REDSonic's real-time Linux kernel and tools, and Intel's SYS310/320/520 refurbished systems.
Japanese companies are adopting Linux for new industrial systems because of its economy, robustness, rich tool set and available source code, Mr. Nomoto said. In addition, companies' efforts to achieve Total Information Management require openness in their new industrial systems, to provide managers with systematic control over data resources, he said.
ITTIA's DBMSi Linux database builds on proven open source software components to provide uniquely open and flexible embedded data management. DBMSi supports multiple database models and programming interfaces, including SQL/ODBC, and gives developers the unprecedented ability to access a Linux database server via Linux, Windows and UNIX client applications, using the familiar Windows ODBC API.
The XMLi platform is ITTIA's solution for timely distribution and integration of data from disparate applications, databases and systems. XMLi uses distributed XML documents and the Internet to ensure that users and applications have the data they need, when they need it.
"Our customers will appreciate ITTIA's strength in enabling SQL-based, cross-platform data access from within Linux applications," Mr. Nomoto said. "In addition, NEAT's target embedded applications increasingly must exchange information efficiently between many layers in a business unit. ITTIA's XMLi can assist us in achieving this goal through XML-enabled embedded systems, which exchange data over the Internet and private e-business networks."
