ITTIA Database Solution Solves Sandia National Laboratories’ Dilemma

December 10, 2004 — Bellevue, WA — Sandia National Laboratories is in charge of providing the technologies that secure the United States’ national nuclear stockpile, and developing solutions to protect civilian and military targets against other weapons of mass destruction.

Because of the complexity of the grave tasks the laboratory is charged to complete, the engineers and scientists at Sandia are among the best in the world. When the experts at Sandia needed a database solution for classified information, they had the budget to consider and choose any database solution. Sandia chose ITTIA.

Jason Coombs, an engineer at Sandia, headed up the project. Coombs was impressed with the responsiveness of ITTIA, and the overall cost and quality of the solution. When Sandia hit a wall in the technical implementation of the solution, ITTIA was right there, providing technical support and consulting.

“ITTIA’s database software solutions and technical support really impressed me the most,” said Coombs. “The engineer ITTIA assigned to my project was very professional, very knowledgeable and very experienced. We were able to solve the issues we came across and kept the implementation on schedule and on budget.”

In recent months, ITTIA has been focusing on Club ITTIA, the community for embedded developers, and db.*, the small-footprint embedded database. Developers and consultants join Club ITTIA to share information and learn from each other’s experiences in development of embedded databases. Club members receive discounted support, updated versions of ITTIA software and an opportunity to communicate with others about their development challenges. db.* is a fast, open-source, small-footprint database engine for open-source operating systems. The underlying architecture of db.* has been used in thousands of operations, from real-time control systems to large routers and consumer devices. Taken together, ITTIA embedded solutions provide an opportunity to leverage the efforts already put forth by others to create an intelligent, low-cost, quality product.

ITTIA has worked with many other prestigious organizations, including the University of Ohio, Glaxo Smith Kline, the United States Air Force and Moody’s Risk Management. It has also worked with many smaller companies and individuals.

“We pride ourselves on having the right tools, solutions and attitude to work with organizations worldwide of any size,” said Sasan Montaseri, President of ITTIA. “We are happy to add Sandia to our prestigious list of satisfied customers, and look forward to providing solutions to more organizations.”
