ITTIA delivers key benefits to new service for Benelux healthcare professionals

February 24, 2003 — Bellevue, WA — Uzorg of The Netherlands adopts ITTIA ODBC to facilitate aggregation of critical data to be used by healthcare professionals in the Benelux nations. Assistance from ITTIA's consulting team coupled with ITTIA ODBC technology enabled Uzorg to utilize the data necessary for completion of the project.

Torex-Hiscom offers a hugely popular application used by general practitioners that includes data difficult to access without ITTIA ODBC. The organization also provides healthcare information technology and administrative information management solutions for laboratories, general practitioners, and has the largest Hospital Information Systems client base in the UK.

With thousands of users, the Torex MICROHIS data was extremely important for Uzorg to be included in their innovative new service. There existed a sizable challenge as a result of MICROHIS being developed with a database that did not enable access. Lacking MICROHIS data, Uzorg would have difficulty promoting their service as intended to the targeted Benelux market. Uzorg had begun the ambitious project with plans to incorporate many sources of data and enable online access by physicians and their staff through a secure web interface. Without MICROHIS data the project stood incomplete with the critical data access component missing.

The solution was found in ITTIA ODBC. Technology developed by ITTIA to offer industry standard Open DataBase Connectivity (ODBC) for applications with RDM embedded was the missing component for Uzorg's solution. Including ITTIA's innovative technology would empower end-users with greater flexibility. Popular tools such as Microsoft Access and Excel could be used as well as other ODBC compliant applications.

With little effort, ITTIA ODBC was enabling access to data that had previously been unavailable. Now vital data could be integrated with ease into the Uzorg solution. As a result of newly found abilities to access the embedded data with ITTIA ODBC, Uzorg's project goal of enabling data access to healthcare workers, regardless of their location via web browsers is one step closer to reality.

"Patient information is a critical element of our distributed access solution for healthcare workers. ITTIA ODBC from ITTIA enables access to data that we previously could not integrate into our service. Now we are closer to our end goal," stated Willem van der Kraan, Lead Consultant for Uzorg on the project.

"Knowing that ITTIA's technology assist healthcare workers receive information that directly impacts the care received by patients is very rewarding. We are elated to play such a vital role in the Uzorg solution. What better way could we celebrate ITTIA's 3rd anniversary?" commented Sasan Montaseri, President of ITTIA.
